Tunis (Tunisia) – In the semi-final of the FIBA Africa U16 Girls Championship, Mali dominated Tunisia with a score of 87-54. This victory allows Mali to qualify for its 8th consecutive final in 8 editions of the competition. Furthermore, by reaching the final, Mali also secures its ticket for the next FIBA U17 Girls World Cup in 2024.

The Tunisian team only managed to make an impact in the first quarter, which they won with a score of 21-20. However, Mali clearly dominated the second and third quarters with scores of 20-5 and 30-12. In the final quarter, Mali cruised to seal the fate of the match.

Assitan Diarisso was the standout player of the game with 25 points and 8 rebounds. Couda Keita and Oumou Kadidia Ouattara also contributed with 10 and 12 points respectively.

On the Tunisian side, the 17 points from Malak Chehidi and the 12 points from Ines Ben Rejeb were not enough to trouble the defending champions.

Thus, Mali will embark on the quest for its 8th continental title in the U16 girls category and will face its eternal rival, Egypt, who will once again try to end Mali’s dominance.

Both Mali and Egypt have qualified for the next U17 Girls World Cup, which will take place in 2024.
