La traditionnelle Draft NBA a lieu un mois plus tard que d’habitude, dans la nuit de jeudi à vendredi. Annoncée comme potentiellement forte, cette cuvée comprend a priori un Top 4 au-dessus du lot.

Cade Cunningham (2,03 m, 19 ans) – La première place de la Draft ne devrait pas échapper à ce meneur de grande taille, considéré comme une star en devenir avec une palette offensive très complète. Il devrait rallier Detroit, au même poste que le Français Killian Hayes.

Jalen Green (1,98 m, 19 ans) – Ancien champion du monde U17 et U19, cet arrière très athlétique est passé directement pro à sa sortie du lycée l’an dernier. Il a tourné à 17,9 points dans la ligue mineure de la NBA. Favori pour être choisi par Houston à la deuxième place.

Evan Mobley (2,13 m, 20 ans) – L’intérieur le mieux coté de cette Draft, lui aussi champion du monde U17 et U19. Ce Californien sort d’une saison à 16,4 points, 8,7 rebonds et 2,9 contres à USC. S’il est effectivement choisi en troisième position, il partira à Cleveland.

Jalen Suggs (1,93 m, 20 ans) – Un autre double champion du monde chez les jeunes, qui pourrait entrer dans les chaussures de Kyle Lowry (en fin de contrat) s’il est retenu par Toronto au quatrième rang. Un arrière polyvalent réputé pour sa grinta, notamment défensive.

Jonathan Kuminga (2,03 m, 22 ans) – Sorti du Top 4, les certitudes se font rares. Cet ailier congolais était considéré un temps comme la cinquième merveille de cette Draft mais ses performances mi-figue, mi-raisin en G-League ont semé le doute. Le cinquième choix reviendra à Orlando.

Scottie Barnes (2,06 m, 19 ans) – Le joueur qui monte dans les mock draft, les prévisions des spécialistes. L’irrégularité de son tir laissé certains recruteurs sceptiques. Mais son énergie, qu’il déploie des deux côtés du terrain, fait de plus en plus d’adeptes.

James Bouknight (1,96 m, 20 ans) – Cet arrière new yorkais est un scoreur (18,7 points avec Connecticut). Sa place dans la Draft est pour l’instant un point d’interrogation. Beaucoup le voient à Golden State, mais sans trancher si ce serait avec le 7e ou le 14e choix.

Davion Mitchell (1,88 m, 22 ans) – Le premier “vétéran” de la Draft, qui a bouclé un cursus universitaire complet. Son parcours avec Baylor, champion NCAA, a boosté sa cote. Des stats sans relief (14,1 points, 5,5 passes) mais une défense (ici sur Cade Cunningham) louée par tous.

Keon Johnson (1,96 m, 19 ans) – Cet arrière a battu le record de détente sèche lors des habituels tests physiques effectués avant la Draft, bondissant à 1,22 m. Tous s’accordent à dire que si le potentiel existe, son jeu reste à développer (11,3 points à Tennessee).

Derrière le Congolais Kuminga, le deuxième non Américain choisi le plus haut pourrait être l’intérieur espagnol du Real Madrid Usmane Garuba, le grand meneur d’Adélaïde Josh Giddey [en photo], l’intérieur turc du Besiktas Istanbul Alperen Sengün ou l’ailier allemand de Michigan Franz Wagner, avec un avantage pour Giddey dans certains mock drafts.

Evan Mobley (2.13 m, 20 years old) – The best rated interior of this Draft, also U17 and U19 world champion. This Californian comes out of a season with 16.4 points, 8.7 rebounds and 2.9 blocks at USC. If he is indeed chosen in third place, he will go to Cleveland.

Jalen Suggs (1.93m, 20) – Another two-time youth world champion, who could step into Kyle Lowry’s shoes (terminated) if he is retained by Toronto in fourth place. A versatile back known for his grinta, especially defensive.

Jonathan Kuminga (2.03 m, 22 years old) – Out of the Top 4, certainties are rare. This Congolese winger was considered for a time as the fifth wonder of this Draft but his half-fig, half-grape performances in the G-League have sown doubt. The fifth choice will go to Orlando.

Scottie Barnes (2.06m, 19) – The rising player in mock drafts, specialists forecast. The irregularity of his shooting left some recruiters skeptical. But his energy, which he deploys on both sides of the field, is gaining more and more followers.

James Bouknight (1.96m, 20) – This New York full-back is a scorer (18.7 points with Connecticut). Its place in the Draft is for the moment a question mark. Many see him at Golden State, but without deciding whether it would be with the 7th or the 14th pick.

Behind the Congolese Kuminga, the second highest chosen non-American could be the Spanish interior of Real Madrid Usmane Garuba, the great point guard of Adelaide Josh Giddey [in photo], the Turkish interior of Besiktas Istanbul Alperen Sengün or the German Michigan winger Franz Wagner, with an advantage for Giddey in some mock drafts.
