In the last game of the third day of the conference, the Sahara Rwanda Energy Group dominated its Senegalese adversary As Douanes by the score (69 – 55). This victory thus allows the Rwandan team to validate its ticket for the final phase scheduled for May in Rwanda.
The challenge of the game was twofold. On the one hand the REG undefeated in 2 games, had the opportunity to validate their ticket for the next phase and on the other, the host of AS Douane who needed victory to relaunch their competition after the defeat suffered during the inaugural day against the Ivorians of the ABC Fighters.
From the first five minutes of the game, there was a commitment from both teams. But very quickly the Rwandan REG will take control of the game to lead largely at the end of the first quarter (25 – 12). Coach Dean Murray’s men clearly dominated the 2nd and 3rd quarter, limiting the Senegalese team to just 12 points each time.
The last quarter is marked by a revolt of the Customs players (12-19), but largely insufficient to get back into the game.
Three REG players have accumulated 39 points. They are Nshobozwabyosenumukiza, 14 points, 9 rebounds, Ndayisaba Ndizeye 13 points and Thomas Jr., 12 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists.
Before the start of the meeting the Rwandan Jean Jacques received the UBUNTU trophy. This prize is dedicated to athletes who use basketball to carry out humanitarian actions.
Only two players from AS Douane managed to break the 10-point mark: Crawford 15 points, 5 rebounds and Boissy 14 points, 7 rebounds.
Us Monastir, which suffered for a long time against the young Nigerian team of Kwara Falcons, ended up winning (85-75) in the first meeting of the day.
