Certainly we will see next season a third Malian in the NBA. The Toronto Raptors have an agreement with the West Virginia University Center, Sagaba Konaté.

Unprepared at the NBA Draft 2019 ceremony held in the evening of Thursday to Friday, Konate, considered one of the best blocker of his generation, found an agreement with the raptors of Torronto under the advice of Tidiani Dramé according to a knowledgeable source.

Last summer, Patrick Engelbrecht, Toronto’s scout director, visited Konate’s family in Bamako. Which proves that the player was closely followed by the raptors.

Passed by the Mali U18 national team ranked 4th in 2014 in Madagascar, Konaté finished in the 5 major of the continental competition.

Considered to be one of the best rim protectors in this year’s class, the 22-year-old is the all-time best blocker of the “Mountaineers” and ranked third in the nation, with 3.2 rejections by competition during the 2017-18 season. The quality of Konaté’s game has earned him the invitation to the NBA in 2018, when he considered becoming a pro that year before reconsidering his decision and returning to school.

Very disadvantaged by a knee injury, Konaté had been forced to shorten his season after just seven appearances.

But despite offensive skills limited by this injury, experts believe that the one called affectionately “Sag” can be improved by using its exceptional energy and blocking instinct in the NBA.
