Despite being the first game, Doumbia already has her eyes set at the top prize.

Uganda, on the other hand, had Christine Namyalo, Gertrude Nyamutoro with four points each and Priscillar Nambogo, Christine Saima finished with two points apiece to thank for their contributions in the game.

Coach of the East African side, Rodgers Sevinigho is not one to be perturbed with the outcome of the game and says that they are happy to be in Cairo for the championship.

“We’re happy to be here for starters. It’s a good opportunity for the young women to grow in the game because they are the future of basketball in Uganda. Mali is a good team. They showed a lot of composure in the game and know what they are doing.

“Our preparation was not good enough and we hadn’t the opportunity we would have expected ahead of this but it doesn’t take away the opportunity we have here. The margin doesn’t matter, but what does is that the women are getting the exposure.”
