After Friday evening, the play-off and play-in table in the Eastern Conference is now known. Philadelphia-Brooklyn, and Cleveland-New York, are the first two series of the final phase.
Before the NBA regular season closes on Sunday, the playoffs roster in the Eastern Conference is now frozen. Milwaukee (1st) and Boston (2nd) will know their opponent at the end of the play-in (see below), these play-off rounds between the 7th and 10th of each Conference, established in 2020. Philadelphia (3rd) will face Brooklyn (6th), who joined the final phase, despite the departure during the season of Kevin Durant to Phoenix, and that of kyrie irving to Dallas.
But the Sixers will start as favorites in the wake of Joel Embiid, candidate for the MVP title after an incredible regular season (33.1 points – league leading scorer – and 10.2 rebounds). Cleveland (4th), back in the play-offs for the first time since the departure of LeBron James in the summer of 2018, will challenge New York (5th). If the Ohio franchise has the home field advantage, it has lost three of its four games against the knicks this season.
The play-in is also fixed. Atlanta (8th) and miami (7th) will meet on Tuesday evening. At stake: a ticket to face Boston. The loser will still have a chance to play in the play-offs. It will host Friday the winner of the duel between Toronto (9th) and Chicago (10th), scheduled for Wednesday. The winner will have the formidable privilege of challenging Milwaukee in the first round.
