On Wednesday January 29, 2020, Fiba Afrique donated a large batch of equipment to the Malian basketball federation. The award ceremony was chaired by the technical council of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Mahamadou Sidibé, in the presence of the Fiba representative, Lemou Benga and the president of the Malian basketball federation, Harouna B Maiga.
The Malian basketball federation is one of Fiba’s eight “Target” countries. To this end, it has benefited from computer hardware and numerous equipment as part of the development program of the national federations.
“I am very happy for the granting of these materials, but especially electronic boards. Because the Salamatou Maiga room needed it, it is one of the best rooms in Africa, “said Harouna B Maiga. Maiga noted that the FMBB was forced to rent a second scoreboard during FIBA competitions. He then promised to make good use of the equipment so that the room remains in international standards.
In his speech, Lemou Benga, representative of Fiba said that FIBA organized several activities on Malian soil including five training courses for coaches in Bamako.
“At Fiba, we have a development program called Fiba” Target ” which is a global program that involves 24 countries including Mali. Each year these countries benefit from Fiba’s help to improve technical platforms, “he said.

The value of the endowment in computer equipment intended for the offices of FMBB, is estimated at more than six million CFA francs. As for equipment, they amount to more than fourteen million. The Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Economy and Finance have assisted the FMBB with the exemption from customs clearance fees.
