ANTSIRABE () – Mali on Saturday beat 86-54 in the final of the 2022 U18 's African Championship in Antsirabe, Madagascar.

It was Mali's fourth title in the last five editions of the tournament dating back to 2014.

Egypt, on the other hand, headed to Antsirabe looking to win back-to-back African titles and win their first continental trophy away from home, but they failed to retain the African title they accomplished two years ago on home soil.

In the most important game of the tournament, Mali were ruthless, proving too much for an Egyptian team who led by five early in the game, but when Mali regained the lead they never trailed again.

Egypt and Mali were the two most dominant teams in the championship, having beaten their opponents by big margins, but when the two faced each other on Saturday, there was a huge gap between the two sides as the final score showed.

While Mali closed their campaign undefeated in six games, Egypt won five of their six games.

Egypt's  Jana Elalfy, who starred for her country at the 2022 FIBA Women's World Cup last month in Hungary, did everything right to help country in Antsirabe, but the tournament belonged to Mali's Maimouna Haidara who scooped the MVP award.

Meanwhile, defeated hosts Madagascar 53-37 in the Third-Place game.

It was Angola's second straight Third-Place finish since 2018.

The standings of the 2022 FIBA U18 Women's Basketball African Championship finished as follows:
