On the fifth day of the Sahara conference, the stade Malien de Bamako hosted rwanda Energy Group in a crucial game for the Whites of Bamako who dominated their opponent by 84-64. The Bamako team is back to winning ways, but will have to fight to qualify for the next round?.
Aware of the importance of this meeting, Stade Malien had to win this duel against the Rwandan team, undefeated since the start of this tournament. Once again the duo Souleymane Berthé and Aliou Fadiala Diarra accumulated 43 points to lead Stade Malien to victory.
The Stade Malien team started the game with great rigor and commitment by dominating their opponent of the day in the first quarter (22-12).
The second quarter is to the advantage of the Rwandans who will reduce the score before going to the break (37-32). Very confident, the last two quarters are clearly to the advantage of coach Kanté's men who remain intractable against an already qualified Rwandan team: 23-17 and 24-15.
Berthé finished the game once again in double digits, 23 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists. Diarra once again posted a double-double of 20 points, 16 rebounds, 2 assists, achieving the game's best individual rating on the occasion with +35. Amayo added 14 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists.
Adonis Filer was the only Rwanda Energy Group player to score in double digits with 19 points.
The second game of the evening saw As Douane beat Kwara Falcons of Nigeria who remain the only team without a win (75-68).
